A NEW ERA OF OPERA

If Opera is all about improving the way opera works, so that more people can enjoy its wonder. We also want to normalise an art form that persists in the national psyche as something rare and impenetrable. That means changing the way we do things, from the roots up.

If Opera's 2023 season will take place in their Saddlespan theatre in the beautiful grounds of Grade 1 listed Belcombe Court. Their staged operas this year offer a rare chance for UK audiences to see Umberto Giordano's hidden gem Fedora, recently produced at the Met and La Scala, and to experience the delights of “the masters of G&S in small spaces” Charles Court Opera's five-star hit The Mikado. Our ever-popular Picnic Prom returns in swinging style, this year with two headliners Jason Rebello with Joy Rose and The Coalminers, and families are warmly invited to journey down the rabbit hole at Belcombe with Will Todd's jazz-infused Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The season concludes with Pyotr Tchaikovsky's magical fairy tale Iolanta at the Wiltshire Music Centre, also in Bradford on Avon.
