Chapel Arts Centre

Chapel Arts Centre

Lower Borough Walls, BA1 1QR , Bath

Chapel Arts Centre, formerly known variously as The Central Club, then Window Arts Centre and more recently, Invention Studios, re-opened over eight years ago with a lot more than a new name. It is now firmly established as Bath’s alternative arts venue, presenting as wide a range of the performing arts as possible, including music of all kinds (except the very loud!), theatre, dance, comedy, film, mime, poetry and multimedia combinations of all the above and more. The well kitted out venue holds 200 people standing, 150 seated theatre style and 105 seated at cabaret style tables. They have a superb, solid and smooth oak wood floor, a state-of-the-art lighting system and truss, and the fantastic natural acoustic of the room, which is augmented by an excellent sound system with a professional 28:8:2 channel Soundcraft mixing desk with more outboard than you could shake a stick at.

There is now a permanent and well stocked bar with many local and organic drinks and a choice of excellent wines, and the Sky Blue Cafe area downstairs has been fully refurbished and serves tasty and wholesome vegan food.

Wheelchairs are admitted into the venue, but only if the customer is able to walk up the 10 wide stone steps with handrail. Once the stone steps have been navigated, there are 3 sets of double doors which are wide enough for wheelchair access and the Auditorium is on this level.

Toilets are down two flights of steps however there is a disabled toilet directly over the road at The Lamb & Lion Pub with 2 stone steps to navigate at the entrance. The Lamb & Lion are very happy for Chapel Arts customers to use their facility.
