'A true inspiration… she frankly rocks.' Huffington Post Entertainment
A symphonic concert of transcendental beauty that pulses with movement, dance and folk song featuring the trailblazing and superstar saxophonist Jess Gillam performing Alexander Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto and Dave Heath’s The Celtic.
Since she first appeared with Bath Philharmonia in 2018, Jess Gillam has developed an international career as a performer taking her across the globe to every major concert hall and as a presenter on her own BBC Radio 3 show (This Classical Life), the BBC Proms and BBC Young Musician of the Year. She will perform Alexander Glazunov’s rich and sumptuous Saxophone Concerto alongside Dave Heath’s jazz and Scottish folk music inspired concerto, The Celtic.
Bath Philharmonia presents Ralph Vaughan Williams’ masterpiece Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis [No. 3 in Classic FM’s Hall of Fame 2024] and his extraordinary Romance from his 5th Symphony alongside music by two young British composers. Sarah Lianne Lewis’s Tourmaline is inspired by the energy and rhythmic pulsing of electronic dance music and Aaron Buckley Mantell’s world premiere, Flight of the Seeds traces the path of a seed pod falling from a tree to the ground.
