This closing Bath Bachfest concert will be one of the first given by the much-acclaimed Academy of Ancient Music under the baton of its new Music Director, Laurence Cummings. Bookended by J S Bach (each work containing one of the composer’s best known pieces) this fascinating programme includes a work by the once eminent but now little-known composer Georg Muffat. The five sonatas which comprise Armonico Tributo were his last published work, and this last concludes with a magnificent Passacaglia.
