Cabaret Voltaire mark 50 years since their first-ever performance with a special anniversary show at The Forum.

In the current climate of social turmoil and political manipulation, the prescient work of Cabaret Voltaire continues to be necessary. The sounds, words, images and films of the band still resonate loudly, continuing to challenge the status quo.

Original members Stephen Mallinder and Chris Watson reunite to celebrate the radical sound and legacy of a band that reshaped electronic and industrial music.

This show honours the group’s formative influence, from early DIY electronics to their Doublevision label and collaborations with Adrian Sherwood and Marshall Jefferson.

Committed to staying true to the enduring vision of Cabaret Voltaire, the performance will span the arc of their formidable output; from early experiments and the first Rough Trade and Factory releases, through the band’s Doublevision video label, and into their work with renowned producers such as Adrian Sherwood and Marshall Jefferson.

It’s rare for a band to be able to lean on material that is abrasive, gritty, jagged and hellishly noisy as easily as they can pull out industrial funk, electro pop, via nods to grinding techno, slippery acid house or ghostly post-punk. Tonight, they deftly glide between the lot.
