Nicola MacDonald is Co-Founder of The Digital Detox Club, Author of Resilient Teen, Digital Wellbeing Speaker and Mindfulness Coach.

Nicola’s mission is to help families feel more connected to the real world. She supports families in building resilience, self-esteem, and emotional balance, and in creating everyday habits that nurture a deeper sense of wellbeing. As a mother, she cares deeply about the impact of smartphones on children’s mental health. She loves sharing ideas, stories, and practical tools through workshops, talks, and media, all with the aim of helping families find more balance, presence, and connection.

This parent talk will highlight...

  • The risks of smartphone overuse on youth mental health
  • Persuasive design - why smartphones are so addictive
  • The importance of reclaiming presence and human connection in a digital world
  • How to unplug and reconnect as a family more often
  • How to strengthen the parent-child bond - emotional support when navigating withdrawal symptoms
  • Tips from our Tech Reset programme
