In The Colour of Home former politician Sajid Javid, Bristol-born son of Pakistani immigrants, shares his story of a childhood marked by poverty, racism and cultural conflict. ‘There were no easy wins for me,’ he says. ‘No inheritance or trust funds’ But with each setback, Javid learned to stand firm and advocate for himself, pushing back against those who tried to define him based on his background, and the colour of his skin.

Sir Sajid Javid was born and brought up in Rochdale and Bristol. The first member of his family to go to university, he went on to be an MP and Secretary of State for six different Departments, including the Home Office and Treasury. Sajid Javid is currently chair of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.

This is a memoir unlike anything you will read from a politician. Sajid Javid tells his story with eloquence and wit
