Madhubani folk art painting for wellbeing: calming patterns, colour and mindfulness.

Discover the calming, expressive power of Madhubani, one of the oldest living folk art traditions of India. Known for its rhythmic lines, symbolic motifs and vibrant colours, this beautiful art form offers a gentle yet absorbing way to slow down, focus and reconnect with your creativity.

In this hands-on wellbeing workshop, you’ll be guided through simple Madhubani drawing techniques using repetitive lines, dots and shapes, before bringing your work to life with bright, joyful colours on paper. The emphasis is on process rather than perfection, making this session suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some creative experience.

Working in a relaxed, supportive space, participants often find that the structured patterns and steady mark-making create a naturally meditative state. This form of folk art has been widely recognised for its therapeutic benefits, including stress reduction, improved focus, mindfulness and emotional expression.

By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a finished artwork to take home and frame – a personal piece created through calm attention, colour and creativity.
