Regulars at the Vaults know what an exciting night this will be, make sure you are there!

James emerged in his early teens as a prodigious Alto Sax player and after attending various workshops in the Bristol Area joined Craig Crofton’s Jazz Funk group CC5.

Still a teenager he gained a place at the prestigious London Guildhall School of Music and returned to Bristol an even more formidable performer and at 22 he gained his Masters Degree in Jazz.

He has now established himself on the local scene with his own band Porkchop Ft and also performing with such world class musicians as Pee Wee Ellis, Marco Parker and local sax hero Andy Sheppard. James has developed his unique voice through direct influences from funk, soul, jazz, gospel, latin and urban music. He has the ability to communicate to an audience through his saxophone and directly project deep emotion across to the listener in a lyrical style. James was a core member of Pee Wee Ellis' Still Black Still Proud an African tribute to James Brown which has toured main stages at festivals all over Europe and has involved guest artists including: Fred Wesley, Cheik Lo, Martha High, Angelique Kidjo and Tony Allen to names a few.

In August 2014 he was appointed Mayoral Ambassador of Music for Bristol by Mayor George Ferguson.

James’ solo album “The Kid” has a new line-up including a 4-piece horn section plus an array of special guests and features Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Andy Sheppard, members from the Herbaliser and The Soul Collective Gospel Choir and since then a second CD “Do Dat”.
