Henry the Eighth needs to keep Anne Boleyn amused while he awaits his divorce. Will Sommers, his Court Jester, thinks he finds the solution when chancing upon an entertaining barmaid. Re-naming her “Jane Fool,” Will introduces her to court to great acclaim. Success turns sour however, when Anne falls out of favour with Henry. Cromwell’s devious plot to get rid of Anne also threatens to bring Jane Fool to the block and Will faces a future without her.
“King of Fools” was presented by Kairos Theatre Company to great acclaim last year and is now revived for a short tour of the West Country. Full of great songs ranging in style from Broadway, rock and Music Hall with a liberal dash of satire.
“Funny, clever and brilliantly performed.”
“Splendid book, music, singing, dancing and acting.”
