A Birthday Celebration for Ralph Vaughan Williams
Assembly Rooms
MENUThis year is the 150th anniversary of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ birth. The prolific composer’s much-loved works encompass opera, ballet, chamber music, orchestral works, and both religious and secular pieces.
He played a pivotal role in the renaissance of British music in the first half of the twentieth century. His exploration of the work of earlier English composers and folk music encouraged an enduring resurgence of interest in British music-making.
