Settle into the Museum of Bath at Work this winter for a special screening of David Lean’s romantic classic Brief Encounter (1945).

Laura (Celia Johnson) and Alec (Trevor Howard) are perfect strangers, until a chance encounter at a train station changes everything. Stuck in their marriages and the constraints of 1940’s society, the pair bond quickly through a series of meetings and intimate conversations.

Devastatingly romantic, this post-war story of connection is considered one of the greatest films of all time.

Celebrating Brief Encounters’ 80th Anniversary, FilmBath and Archaeo-Heritage Film are delighted to present this event as part of the BFI’s Too Much: Melodrama on Film season.
