With its honey-coloured Georgian streetscapes, Bath is frequently used as a scenic backdrop for films and TV shows. This fun and illuminating walk, led by a qualified Blue Badge tour guide, takes in many filming locations around the city. It also provides behind-the-scenes insights on some of the logistics involved with filming in the city.

You’ll learn why Bath is so popular with production companies – it’s not just to do with the beautiful streets and settings – and how screen tourism has become a major reason for many visitors choosing to come to Bath.

The tour takes in filming locations for a host of TV shows and films. Bridgerton will feature – Season One of Netflix’s hit Regency costume drama is the biggest production ever shot in Bath. Season Four was released earlier this year.

Other recently-shot productions covered on the tour include: Seven Dials, Netflix’s new Agatha Christie drama; Wonka, Warner Bros’ prequel to the Roald Dahl story; McDonald and Dodds, ITV’s detective drama series; The Forsytes, the latest adaptation of John Galsworthy’s novels; and Channel 4’s First Dates.

Locations used in Jane Austen adaptations and other classic films will also be divulged. Some films are well-known, such The Duchess, Les Miserables and Vanity Fair, others less so, such as 80,000 Suspects, a 1960s thriller about a smallpox epidemic in Bath.

The tour also reveals Bath’s links with some famous actors and directors, as well as pioneers of cinematography.
