Walking Tour: Exploring the Other Side of the River

Step away from the crowds and discover a different side of Bath on this guided walking tour with Fred Mawer Tours. Focusing on the elegant yet often overlooked Bathwick neighbourhood, on the eastern side of the River Avon, the walk begins along monumental Great Pulteney Street before winding through Sydney Gardens, once Bath’s fashionable pleasure gardens. From there, enjoy a scenic stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal and a relaxed return along the river. 

Along the way you’ll uncover details about Georgian architecture and society, Bath’s surprisingly rich industrial past, and intriguing connections to literature, music and filming locations.

Road closures and travel disruption are expected across central Bath on the morning of this event due to the Bath Half Marathon. Many roads (including around the start point) will be closed to vehicles from early morning until late afternoon, and parking suspensions will be in place.

We strongly advise allowing extra travel time, using public transport or walking where possible, and checking travel updates on race day.
