20 piano pieces to celebrate 20 years of Bath Philharmonia

Acclaimed pianist Charles Wiffen plays 20 short pieces for piano composed across 20 years (between 1820 and 1840) by Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin and Liszt.

Charles has performed extensively throughout the UK, as well as further afield in Africa, Belgium, China, France, Germany, Italy, Israel, Japan, Spain, Taiwan, and the USA. He has given recitals in London’s Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room, and in Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, and he has performed in the BBC Proms and Bath International Music Festival, among many other festivals. He has also performed in the Park Lane Group series in London and was selected by the late Isaac Stern to perform in ‘Jerusalem Encounters’. Charles has broadcast for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM and has recorded several CDs for labels including Toccata Classics. He is a member of the London Archduke Trio and Contemporary Consort.

Charles Wiffen is Chair of the Trustees of Bath Phil and is Head of Academic Portfolio at Bath Spa University.

Charles has been Visiting Professor of Music at Shanghai University and previously lectured at the Royal College of Music and at Trinity Laban in London. He regularly performs and gives masterclasses at Dartington International Summer School and at Curso Internacional de Musica Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain. He studied at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, and at the Royal College of Music in London.
