Abigail's Party

Platform 8 Productions invites you to spend an evening at Beverly and Laurence’s for a drinks party. They have invited their new neighbours Angela, Tony and also Sue, another neighbour whose daughter Abigail is hosting a party at their house. The evening starts off in an uncomfortable way as the neighbours tentatively gather.

Abigail’s Party is a situation comedy of manners, and is a satire on the aspirations and tastes of the new middle class that emerged in Britain in the 1970’s. The play was originally improvised by the cast with author Mike Leigh’s then wife, Alison Steadman (Pam in Gavin and Stacey) playing Beverly and establishing it as a classic comedy role.

Platform 8 is a Bath based theatre company and are delighted to return to the Mission Theatre. We promise you a night of shameless 70’s nostalgia combined with acutely observed character based comedy.

Warning – this show does contain pineapple and cheese on sticks!
