There are no more persuasive advocates of the invigorating music of Antonio Vivaldi than violinist/director Adrian Chandler and his orchestra La Serenissima (named after the “most serene republic” of Venice). Their newest CD, Vivaldi x 2, was praised by Gramophone magazine as “a feast of pleasures”. This morning concert, drawing on some of the same repertoire, includes two double concertos each for a pair of oboes, a pair of horns, and violin and cello, before ending neatly with a Concerto for solo violin which also features all the other instruments.
