Originally from Ukraine/Poland, Alina Bzhezhinska has become one of London’s most innovative international harpists, with imaginative concert programmes and recordings featuring leading jazz musicians like Django Bates, Tony Kofi, Shabaka Hutchinson, Gareth Lockrane and Michael Janich.
Her London appearances include Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the Barbican, live on BBC Radio 3, the London Jazz Festival and London Film Festival. Her duo with jazz vocalist Niki King also performed as a support-act for Grammy award-winner Gregory Porter.
Alina is now leading a project performing the original music of legendary jazz harpists Alice Coltrane and Dorothy Ashby and explores the art of John Coltrane, Duke Ellington and Randy Weston.
In addition she has recorded a solo album, Harp Recital. Let It Be Me, her latest recording with jazz vocalist Niki King – a celebration of some of the greatest music of the 20th century including tracks by Duke Ellington, Jaques Brell and Roberta Flack was released in 2017.
Alina studied at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland (Masters in Arts), and The University of Arizona, USA (Masters in Music Performance).
