K9 Firefolk 2019

Parade Gardens

£10/£7 | Family Ticket £30

Join us in Parade Gardens for a fresh line-up of talented local folk bands to celebrate the installation of the BathIRON bandstand balustrade – a beautiful sculptural piece which was hand-forged by teams of blacksmiths from all over the UK during BathIRON Festival in June 2018. There’ll be a bar and food stalls, and we’ll also be celebrating the traditional heritage craft of the artist blacksmith with forging demonstrations throughout the evening. For more information about the line-up, activities and the BathIRON balustrade project visit our website and follow us on social media. @bathironfest @bathiron #firefolk

About the Artists

SINNOBER is the mercurial jazz-folk-rock fusionist creation of multi-instrumentalist song writers Sebastian & Natalie Brice. Performing songs from their latest album Projection. Projection is a vividly personal work of poignant simplicity exposing the unabashed eloquence of bare bones song writing distilled into its most vital form.

“It is a stunning collection of songs, sensitively arranged, beautifully played and produced and faultlessly recorded.

Projection is an exceptional album.” – Folk Radio UK

“A charming mini-album… the harmonies throughout are gorgeous” – Scottish Daily Express

“These guys really know how to create a song, create a vibe, create an atmosphere” – Sam Bonham, BBC

The Drystones

BBC Folk Awards Nominee 2018

The Drystones are a young (just 21) lively folk duo from Priddy in Somerset playing violin, guitar and whistle, who have made a big splash since they formed in July 11. They have played festivals all over the West Country (including Larmer Tree, Sidmouth, Broadstairs, Purbeck and Folk East), and at their 2013 Glastonbury Festival performance they were highlighted by Steve Lamacq on Radio 2 as his “recommendation of the day”. According to Living Tradition “to describe their instrumental style as spirited and animated would be akin to asserting that Bellowhead can be quite an energetic band”!

“To describe their instrumental style as spirited and animated would be akin to asserting that Bellowhead can be quite an energetic band” – Clive Pownceby, Living Tradition

“absolutely blown away by their energy”- Will Lang – Halsway Manor Centre for Folk Arts

“The Drystones demonstrate a sophisticated musical maturity that is far beyond their ages” – Roy Spencer – Folk Radio UK

The Railway Sleepers

The Railway Sleepers are a fast-paced outfit of rag tags and second generation academics. They sound how you might expect pickled swing, punk, klezmer, gypsy and hill blues to sound…

The band all currently exist in a range of fashions in the fine city of Bristol. They play regularly about the town and parish and even grac distant lands with their music. However, Latvia remains, to this day, unexplored”

The Striking Clock

The Striking Clock are an energetic and virtuosic trio specialising in instrumental Celtic music. Their arrangements of traditional tunes incorporate chordal accompaniments you’d want to serve up with a nice glass of red. Horizontal, harmonic lead bass

Nathaniel Mann

Nathaniel Mann is a composer, sound artist and folk singer.
Much of his repertoire draws from deep research into folk traditions, presenting re-appraised and re-written ballads and songs which hark to the past to speak of the present. A long-standing interest in work-song pervades his work, including performances with axes and meat cleavers. For FireFOLK he will present a set of music inspired by the heat, sweat and myth of the blacksmith’s forge.
