Mozart – Sonata in G major K 301
Clara Schumann – Three Romances Op 22
Vaughan Williams – The Lark Ascending
Wieniawski – Polonaise de Concert Op 4

Star violinist Jennifer Pike, a former BBC Young Musician of the Year, is partnered by her father Jeremy in a delectable lunchtime programme. It begins with a Mozart sonata written amidst the musical stimulation of the famous Mannheim court, and continues with the expressive Romances which were, sadly, the last composition of Robert Schumann’s pianist wife Clara. After Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending (in its original piano-accompanied version) has worked its pastoral magic, the concert comes to a brilliant conclusion with the Polonaise by the Polish violin
virtuoso Henryk Wieniawski.
