Bath Festivals

Bath Festivals is a charity that brings some of the finest international musicians, speakers and writers to entertain audiences, in the beautiful venues and spaces of our world heritage city. By creating innovative and diverse programmes, our festivals inspire and provide unique experiences for residents and visitors to Bath. We are responsible for The Bath Festival in the summer and Bath Children’s Literature Festival in the autumn, which bring the city alive with a celebration of the arts. Our year-round creative learning programme of hands-on music and literature projects gives children and young people opportunities to gain real-world experience, building their inner confidence and improving communication skills through the arts.

THE BATH FESTIVAL 2024
THE WAIT IS OVER!

We are so excited to share this years programme with you, so settle in, grab a cuppa and start planning your May. đź‘€

Whether it’s celebrating 50 years since ABBA won Eurovision, taking tea with Jane Austen, enjoying a raucous evening with legendary comedian Helen Lederer, learning some international insults with Adam Sharp, a beginner’s tarot workshop with Litwitchure, hearing anecdotes from West End legend Michael Ball or an exclusive Murder in the Bookshop mystery party with the creator of the puzzle sensation of the moment, Murdle  – there’s a huge amount of FUN to be had throughout the festival!

It’s going to be a busy and exciting nine days, packed with literature events, concerts curated by musician in residence Sean Shibe, walking tours taking place several times a day, and workshops to ignite your creativity.

We’ll once again have our festival hub at The Guildhall with events running there on every day of the festival – we’re also delighted to be hosting a series of events in Waterstones, as well as at a range of venues including The American Museum, Chapter 22 Roots and RecordsBath Central Library and The Gainsborough Hotel.

We’re thrilled to have two wonderful writers-in residence ‘bookending’ the festival: Kit de Waal and Cathy Rentzenbrink, who will each be hosting a series of conversations, discussing everything from the meaning of home, belonging and community, to grief, therapy and the power of books.

Whichever events you come to, our hope is to bring you joy, connection and inspiration. We hope to see you there!
