As part of Queer Bath, FilmBath and Bath Preservation Trust proudly presents E.1027 Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea, an evocative documentary celebrating the life and legacy of pioneering Irish architect and designer Eileen Gray.

Gray, a visionary in modernist architecture, defied the conventions of her time to create E.1027, a radical and deeply personal seaside villa on the French Riviera. Her work, often overshadowed by male contemporaries, is now rightfully recognised as a milestone in modern architecture. This stunning film explores her creative genius, queer identity, and struggle for recognition in a world reluctant to acknowledge women’s contributions to architecture.

Join us at the Architecture Museum, Bath, for a special screening that sheds light on Gray’s remarkable story and the significance of E.1027 in queer architectural history. The screening will be followed by a discussion on gender, space, and visibility in design, offering fresh perspectives on how LGBTQ+ identities shape our built environments.
