Bhutan is famous for being the only country that measures Gross National Happiness over Gross National Product. The question is - how do you measure happiness? The answer can be found in this delightful and enchanting documentary as we follow two men around, asking questions of the local people, to see whether they are indeed happy, and if so, why and how. Sounds simple, which it is, but also it’s an amazing way to see into the hearts and minds of ordinary people, as they talk about their everyday experience with honesty, humour and insight. In a world of complexity, division and suffering this is a hugely important way of looking at life that enhances rather than diminishes humanity.
 

SYNOPSIS: 
How is happiness measured? Can satisfaction with one's life be rated on a scale from one to ten? The Kingdom of Bhutan's famous -- and highly exoticized -- government policy measuring its nation's Gross National Happiness operates on the idea that the basic tenets of fulfilment can and should be quantified when calculating their nation's development. Happiness Agent Amber Gurung embarks throughout the Himalayan mountains to survey the contentment of citizens from different households and lifestyles. While Amber dutifully administers this census, he too is forced to confront his own struggles with fulfilment, and question what makes him happy.
