FURTHER BACKGROUND ON PAUL AND FIONA

For 60 years Paul has been in showbiz. At the age of 22 he burst onto our black and white screens when 5-4-3-2-1 got to number 5 in early 1964. Later that year, Do Wah Diddy topped the charts, and two years on, Pretty Flamingo did, too.

Nowadays Paul’s performances are “just like yesterday”.

Paul’s distinguished career has ranged from singing, stage actor, film star and long-standing BBC 2 Radio Blues presenter. His stage credits include, The Royal National Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company, West End and Broadway.

Along his acting career he met a blossoming actress, Fiona Hendley.

Fiona’s career as an accomplished actress took her on stage at Royal National Theatre, the West End, the Royal Shakespeare Company, film, radio and in the ITV drama Widows, a screenplay written by Lynda La Plante.

Fiona has sung on many show recordings and has a collection of gold discs that rival Paul's.

Paul and Fiona travel extensively bringing the Gospel message after they were gloriously saved over 30 years ago. From atheism, fear and rejection into God’s unconditional love, immense peace and extraordinary joy. Their testimony is humorous, but compassionate

Fiona sought God from an early age, thinking that she was a Christian, but was surrounded by deception (including spiritualists and mediums); she too hoped that success in show business would bring her happiness. Their testimony tells how each of them found true happiness and real faith. As they bring their testimony, they sing songs from their album, and the Gospel message is clearly explained.

Mark Lloydbottom is delighted to host this captivating and enduring couple. Together they will tell their story and song. They will share anecdotes including the television company’s objectives in having Paul challenge Cliff Richard on his faith. At that time Paul was an ardent atheist.
