Two musicians who need no introduction to Bath audiences come together for this intriguing concert. Adrian Brendel is one of the most versatile and original cellists of his generation, who has travelled the world as a soloist, chamber musician, collaborator and teacher, and is a regular visitor to Bath as a member of the Nash Ensemble. He is joined on stage here by another Bachfest favourite, the award-winning harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani, who has made it his life’s work to rehabilitate the harpsichord and restore it to its rightful position in the mainstream of concert instruments. Mahan has recorded the complete cycle of Bach’s keyboard concerti and describes playing his music as “engaging with eternity”.
