Ach Gott, vom Himmel sieh darein BWV 2
Violin concerto in E major BWV 1042
Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern BWV 1

The award-winning and internationally acclaimed period performance ensemble, led by its founder and artistic director Jonathan Cohen, will make a very welcome return to Bath Bachfest with a new collaboration and programme and an exciting new talent. The rapidly rising star violinist, Théotime Langlois de Swarte, is the perfect collaborator, here as both soloist and Konzertmeister. C P E Bach wrote that his father “understood to perfection the possibilities of all stringed instruments”, but Johann Sebastian reserved special favour for the violin, his own instrument. This programme reveals Bach’s multifarious violin writing for solo concerto, concerto grosso, and as obligato counterpart to the human voice.
