Three timeless masterpieces of the string quartet repertoire are performed by the Marmen String Quartet, one of today’s most exciting young ensembles. Haydn is the only composer who can make you laugh out loud, and his ‘Joke’ quartet Op 33 No 2 in E flat opens this programme which ends with Mozart’s String Quartet in C major K465 ‘Dissonance’, dedicated to Haydn. The programme is completed by Ravel’s gorgeous masterwork, marking the composer’s 150th anniversary year.
