Frankenstein Unchained

FilmBath Festival

Masonic Hall @ Old Theatre Royal

An interactive trip thru the world of Mary Shelley's classic story, featuring live narration by Madeline Smith, star of such films as FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL (with Peter Cushing) TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA (with Christopher Lee) and the James Bond film LIVE AND LET DIE, and a new original soundtrack, performed live to picture to underline and support the story. The performance comprises a (slightly condensed) narration by Madeline Smith of Mary Shelley’s 1818 story ‘Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus’ in front of a film that runs the length of the performance, between original musical interludes performed live-to-picture by composer Jason Frederick. The accompanying film comprises information about the background of the story, and includes multimedia and clips from public-domain films to create a unique tapestry of the various appearances of the monster over the past century.

This event is in collaboration with Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein.

Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein is a multi-award winning museum celebrating all things Frankenstein, from the novel’s shocking beginnings to the Creature’s enduring place in popular culture.
