GET INTO OPERA! A Carmen Family Fiesta Day

Step into a world of colour, rhythm, and big tunes as Carmen bursts into town for a joyful, hands-on opera adventure for the whole family! Inspired by Bizet’s Carmen, this relaxed, free-flowing event invites children (and grown-ups) to sing, make, move, explore, and play.

Join in our singing workshop and learn the famous Toreador chorus, then perform it alongside professional opera singers in a thrilling final sing-along. Enjoy a lively potted performance of Carmen, a short, accessible presentation that brings the story to life for all ages. Make your own Carmen-inspired props, explore the gardens on a playful trail, and meet unforgettable characters as the opera unfolds around you.

Bring your own picnic and settle into your favourite corner of the garden, wander between activities at your own pace, When it’s time for a break, try out our Spanish-inspired churros or paella from our pop-up restaurant in The Cowshed by Homewood, and don’t forget to say hello to Teddy and Jimmy, the resident donkeys, while you enjoy your lunch.

Everyone is welcome - this is a great family day out you whether you’re sitting in the auditorium watching, or on-stage participating. Come for the fiesta. Leave humming the tunes. Olé!
