What happens when beliefs become battle lines and how do we step back from the brink?

Do you avoid people who are strongly against immigration? Or strongly for trans rights? Against abortion? For drug legalisation?

We might like to think that we're tolerant, but many of us struggle to tolerate opposing viewpoints. Why is that and what can we do about it?

In this bold and timely event, Paul Dolan introduces the idea of Beliefism: discrimination against people because of what they believe. Drawing on behavioural science and real-world examples, he talks to Anu Anand about how moral certainty, social media, and identity-driven politics are shrinking public debate, deepening division, and potentially weakening democracy itself.

This event will be followed by a book signing, supported by Mr B’s Emporium of Books.

An urgent, fresh and brilliant call to solve one of the 21st century's most pressing problems
