Making their Mozartfest debut, the Paris-based Modigliani Quartet promise to bring to Bath audiences the energy and passion for which their performances are renowned. Ranging musically across Europe, their concert will open with one of Mozart’s Milanese Quartets, written when he was just 16 and based in the Italian city working on the opera Lucio Silla. Then to the Spanish composer Joaquin Turina (1882-1949) and a work called ‘The Bullfighter’s Prayer’ and via Ravel’s String Quartet in F major, dedicated to Gabriel Fauré, to Beethoven. The second of his three famous Razumovsky Quartets will bring this concert to a restless, tumultuously dramatic, conclusion.
