Onyx Brass went down a storm at their first appearance at Bath Bachfest last year, so we are delighted to welcome them back to the Mozartfest this time. Firmly established as the band responsible for establishing the brass quintet as a medium for serious chamber music, Onyx Brass’s concerts are unfailing musically excellent, articulate and entertaining. Unsurprising then that BBC Music Magazine described them as “easily the classiest brass ensemble in Britain”. With a wide repertoire encompassing the remarkable Louise Farrenc, Bizet and Brahms, their Bath programme is threaded through with Mozart, including Alleluia from Exultate Jubilate, and will complete its tour de brass with Mendelssohn’s Duet from Songs Without Words.
