Who should decide what leads the news, what follows and in what order?

In every newsroom around the world there’s a daily editorial conference to decide the news agenda and this is your chance to join in. Tortoise Media and the Observer are bringing their hit podcast ‘The News Meeting’ to Bath for the very first time.

You’ll get the chance to see, hear and better understand how these conversations shape the news agenda as well as having your say and sharing the stories you think their editors should be talking about too.

Guaranteed to be a lively, informative and occasionally competitive live recording. Giles Whittell will be sitting in the editors chair, and we will have three locals vying for the win: Anu Anand, former BBC World Service Radio presenter with 24 years' experience in international news and current affairs; Sharanjit Leyl, former BBC producer, presenter and Chancellor, Bath Spa University and Greg Ingham, former business journalist who co-founded MediaClash and runs Creative Bath.

Giles Whittell is Deputy Editor and World Affairs Editor at Tortoise. He grew up mainly in Africa, studied history and worked as a Times correspondent in LA, Moscow and Washington. He was the Times‘ chief leader-writer for three years before joining Tortoise in 2018. Along the way he’s written a few books including Spitfire Women of World War II, Bridge of Spies, and a biography of snow.
