MENUA summery evening of sumptuous orchestral music refracting dazzling seasonal colours, dawn choruses, heat haze and warm languid evenings. Brilliant, young Brazilian guitarist Plinio Fernandes joins Bath Philharmonia to perform Rodrigo’s loving evocation of Spain and its people in his iconic Guitar Concerto – the Concierto de Aranjuez. Works by living composers are introduced including the beautiful sound worlds of British composers Rebecca Dale and Jocelyn Pook. With impressionism pervading, Lili Boulanger’s delicate and sensual tone poem D’un matin du Printemps and Maurice Ravel’s magical Fairy’s Garden from the Mother Goose Suite. delight the senses whilst Fredrick Delius’ rhapsody - Brigg Fair, describes an English summer at its best with gently rolling verdant hills, warm sunshine, and cricket on the green.
