The Katona Twins, Peter and Zoltán, will bring their remarkable virtuosic classical guitar playing to Bath Bachfest for the first time in 2024. Described in the New Yorker as “Virtuosos who play with an almost eerie unanimity of style and considerable charm” they will present a programme of Scarlatti, including the composer’s Toccata in D minor K 141 with its thrilling conclusion of rapid repeated notes, scales and arpeggios, plus Handel and Bach and a Vivaldi Trio in G minor RV 85 translated for two guitars. Their own sensitive arrangements, in particular, revealing their deep affinity with Baroque music.
