In this concert all stereotypes of the traditional song recital are avoided while exploring Virginia Woolf’s Orlando - a time travelling adventurer transcending place, period and gender. Expectations will be subverted with new works for electronics; songwriters Laurie Anderson and Bob Dylan placed alongside Dowland and Schubert.
Nikolovska and Shibe are former BBC New Generation Artists and Borletti-Buitoni Trust recipients. This season Nikolovska made her Royal Opera House debut with the lead role in the UK premiere of Sir George Benjamin’s Picture a Day Like This and Shibe was nominated for a Grammy Award.
