Age: 8+

Join author and illustrator Sue Cheung as she shows you how to create your own comic in this interactive workshop. Sue will explore the themes of her hilarious new book Maddy Yip’s Guide to Holidays, and take participants on a rip-roaring exploration of all things comics! Come along and create your own comic character cartoons featuring you and your life! Or have a go at drawing your own ‘How to…’ comic strip based on something you’re the master at. ‘How to avoid going to bed early’ maybe or ‘How to make a money-spinning invention’?

About the Illustrator
British-Chinese illustrator Sue Cheung grew up in a house without books so she bought comics from the local newsagents and devoured them, ending up with a pile taller than she was! When she wasn’t giggling at her comics, Sue was busy clowning about and scribbling and drawing. Sue’s brilliant series, Maddy Yip’s Guide to Life is a lot based on her own childhood. Maddy loves being silly and no matter how challenging life gets, she manages to see the lighter side. The books are packed full of comic illustrations featuring Maddy and her family and friends, including hilarious ‘How to…’ comic strip advice from Maddy. ‘How to give a cat a haircut’ is just for starters!
