“Passion, precision, warmth, a gold blend: these are the trademarks of this excellent Israeli string quartet” wrote an enthusiastic critic in The Times. We are delighted to welcome the acclaimed Jerusalem Quartet back to Bath. Their programme will open with Mozart’s famous Dissonance quartet, so-called because of its unusual slow introduction. This will be followed by Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No 1 in E flat major Op 12, written when the composer was just 20 years old and on his first, very happy, visit to London. Finally, to Debussy, the subject of a much admired recording by the Quartet. The composer’s sole quartet is sensual and impressionistic but with Russian influences (think Tchaikovsky, perhaps due to a shared patroness) and poetic themes.
