Run Lola Run

FilmBath Festival

Run Lola Run is one of those films that lights up the screen from the moment it starts, till the second it finishes, less than 90 minutes later, during which time you are left breathless and exhilarated. As The Washington Post put it so succinctly, it is “fabulously kinetic”.

A simple set-up involves Lola having 20 minutes to locate $100,000 to save her boyfriend from an early grave. The film is divided into 3 parts, each of which shows her trying a different solution. Young German director, Tom Tykwer takes this simple premise and - for want of a better term - runs with it very successfully. It was also a remarkably successful world wide hit, attracting rave reviews from critics and fans.

SYNOPSIS:
In this visually and conceptually impressive film, two-bit Berlin criminal Manni delivers some smuggled loot for his boss, Ronnie, but accidentally leaves the 100,000 mark payment in a subway car. Given 20 minutes to come up with the money, he calls his girlfriend, Lola, who sprints through the streets of the city to try to beg the money out of her bank manager father and get to Manni before he does something desperate.
