£12.00 - £35.00

The period-instrument ensemble Florilegium, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2016, returns to Bath Bachfest in the company of the esteemed tenor James Gilchrist with an enticingly varied programme. Bach is represented by the opening Concerto of an early cantata, the buoyant Fourth Brandenburg Concerto and a poignant solo cantata. There’s a virtuosic chamber concerto by Bach’s friend Telemann, and a psalm setting in chaconne form by his North German predecessor Buxtehude. And if you haven’t yet encountered the exuberant and sometimes eccentric music of Bach’s Bohemian-born contemporary Zelenka, you’ll be surprised and delighted by his brilliant psalm setting and colourful Concerto.
