Haydn – The Creation (sung in English)
Haydn’s Creation is one of the great oratorios, retelling the story of the first days of the world, from primordial chaos to Adam and Eve’s happiness in the Garden of Eden, in music which is devout, colourful and full of humanity. What finer performers could there be for this masterpiece than the team which brought us Mozart’s C minor Mass at last year’s Mozartfest, David Bates with his period instrument orchestra La Nuova Musica and the Holst Singers, and a strong trio of soloists led by the radiant soprano Lucy Crowe? And what better setting could there be than historic Bath Abbey? Book early for the best seats!
Pre-concert Talk with David Bates, founder and artistic director of La Nuova Musica, discusses Haydn’s Creation with writer and broadcaster Caroline Gill.
