The home of If Opera for 2022
We are delighted to be back in the beautiful grounds of Belcombe Court; centrally located in the historic market town of Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire, the beautiful setting is the perfect backdrop for our operas, picnic prom and family show.
Originally built in 1700, Belcombe Court was altered considerably in 1734 by John Wood the Elder, one of the best known architects of the day, and famous today for designing many of the finest buildings in Bath. From its 18th-century origins to 21st-century private home, Belcombe has been gently evolving for over 250 years. Our opera and musical events take place within the 60 acres of formal gardens, parkland and woodland.
Picnic in the grounds or simply enjoy a drink at the If Opera bar before taking your seat in our purpose built ‘Saddlespan’ theatre located close to the main house. The theatre is fully enclosed with raked seating and an excellent acoustic.
We thank Paul and Caroline Weiland for welcoming If Opera into the grounds of their family home again this year, and if you too would like to hold an event at Belcombe Court the house, grounds and estate are a perfect venue for wedding ceremonies, receptions and other events. Belcombe has a licence for civil ceremonies and ‘The Barn’ may be used for cookery classes, floristry courses and many more creative workshops.
Please get in touch with Belcombe Court directly for more information.
