MENUFill your heart with music at a concert exploring the many facets of love and joy, featuring award-winning pianist Lara Melda performing Chopin’s elegant but unrequited second piano concerto.
Mozart’s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro sets the scene for a tale of quixotic passion and dizzying happiness, whilst Florence Price’s tender portrayal of devotion for strings is a dreamy antidote. Made famous for its association with the long forgotten 1970s movie Elvira Madigan, the slow movement of Mozart’s 21st Piano Concerto has perhaps the most famous melody of all his piano concertos and is the epitome of elegance and beauty.
Written as a love song for his wife Alma, Gustav Mahler’s Adagietto is one of the most instantly recognisable, emotive, and intimate pieces of orchestral music. Whilst Chopin’s second piano concerto is a work of profound virtuosity and passionate sensitivity.
“Lara Melda is a piano playing firecracker and a seriously formidable talent to watch!” 365Bristol.com
