Mahin is 70, living alone in Iran, with a group of women friends who complain a) about the men they have or b) the men they don’t have. Malin would like to find love, but what are the chances of her finding someone at her age, and in a culture where women are harassed by the morality police for a less-than-perfect hijab? Except that she meets a taxi driver called Esmail who seems as keen as she is to rekindle some later life passion, which holds out hope of her finding what she’s looking for. As if to mirror the oppression the two women directors are showing, the Iranian authorities raided the production company’s offices and banned them from going to Berlin. Fortunately, the film made it. Yet it is as much a romance as a political film, both tender and yearning, which shows that the need for love never goes away. The Guardian describes it as a “wonderfully sweet and funny film.”

SYNOPSIS:
After losing her husband and daughter, 70-year-old Mahin has been living a lonely life in Tehran. But one day, she decides to join her friends for the afternoon tea and finds a new spark in her heart. She meets someone who makes her feel alive again, and the evening brings unpredictable surprises and memories.
