The Crime is Mine

Francois Ozon is one of the most prolific directors working today, with well over 20 films since 2000, and all of them original, interesting and different to each other. His latest offering is a period piece which is both comedy and thriller (more funny than scary) with a wonderful cast which includes Fabrice Luchini and Isabelle Huppert, and stars Rebecca Marder and Nadia Tereszkiewicz as a pair of struggling young men in 1930s Paris who seize the opportunity for fame and wealth before discovering the downsides. It’s a frothy and delightful film that will enchant and entertain you.

SYNOPSIS:
Paris, France, 1935. With a wide assortment of debt collectors lining up at her door, struggling actress Madeleine Verdier is with her back to the wall. But life is full of surprises. And then, for no apparent reason, someone puts a bullet in the head of the lascivious French producer, Montferrand. As a result, as if the cruel hardships of poverty weren't enough, the penniless artist now stands accused of murdering one of the city's most famous residents. Luckily, Madeleine's roommate Pauline Mauléon happens to be a lawyer. Of course, the prime suspect claims to be innocent; however, the truth is in the eye of the beholder. What happens if the producer's shocking murder isn't Madeleine's crime?
