The Songwriters Festival
Part of Curious Minds - A festival to ignite ideas
Assembly Rooms
MENUThe Songwriters Festival sees some of the award-winning artists of the last year (AMAUK Artist of the Year 2023 Elles Bailey and AMAUK Song of the Year winner Hannah White) share the stage with some of the finest working today, alongside stalwarts established decades before in bands such as The Vaccines (Freddie and the Scenarios), Noah and the Whale and The Magic Numbers (Michele Stodart.)
Centred in the middle of the magnificent Octagon Room, encircled by the audience, The Main Stage will untypically be a giant Songwriters Round, hosting 3 acts at a time alternating songs over 90 minutes sets.
This setting will provide festival-goers with a uniquely intimate song experience, laid-back and stripped bare, whilst allowing the artists the freedom to trade stories in an informal setting, collaborate and jam on each other’s tunes.
The passion project of songwriter and Bath-resident Matt Owens, The 7 Hills have been curating critically-acclaimed grassroots Festivals across the city for the last 5 years, and watching their little Festival-within-a-Festival at Lovefields, grow year-on-year into a 3 stage behemoth at Glastonbury Festival.
As ever with a 7 Hills event, there is a thriving representation of local artists in the community and a didactic platform for young musicians. The majority of artists are Somerset-based and there’s a stage to showcase young-Bathonians on the rise. The 7 Hills are delighted to be pairing up with Curious Minds and the Bath Arts Collective to shine a spotlight on the potency of lyricism and storytelling in song, set to be showcased by some of the best in the business.
