Bach B minor Mass - Bath Cantata Group
St Stephen's Church
MENUArguably the pinnacle of Baroque brilliance, this mighty work combines poignancy and passion with rhythmic and melodic genius. Completed in 1749, just a year before Bach’s death, the B minor Mass combines some of the last notes the composer ever wrote, with arrangements from some of his earliest cantatas. Movements were composed across 25 years of Bach’s career, with the Mass only assembled into its final form shortly before his death; poignantly he never heard a complete performance. This dazzling array of older and newer styles, spanning many decades, showcases both Bach’s musical mastery developed over a long career and provides us with a profoundly beautiful experience.
Under the directorship of Neil Moore, Bath Cantata Group warmly invite you to share their presentation of this mighty work. Joining them is a stunning lineup of soloists along with a Baroque orchestra of period instruments, led by Maxim Del Mar. This is a concert you won’t want to miss!
