The dynamic ensemble Brecon Baroque consists of an international line-up of world-class virtuosi in the period-instrument world, together specialising in one-to-a-part repertoire which brings them into the spotlight alongside their leader and director, Rachel Podger, who has been described by a Times critic as “…the unsurpassed British glory of the baroque violin”. This delightful concert features works by the Baroque ‘greats’: two of Handel’s Concerti Grossi, two Concerti for Violins from J S Bach, one of Vivaldi’s lesser known compositions, the inventive and exhilarating La Stravaganza Violin Concerto Op 4 No 12 in G major, plus a sonata by composer and organist Georg Muffat.
